re-doing the surgery...

I am now 18 months post op and my surgeon dropped the bombshell today that we may have to re-do the surgery again. My nose is too wide and needs building up at the top between my eyes. My upper jaw isn't in the correct position and my surgeon feels that I would benefit from having it moved again.

He said that he would have to move my upper jaw forwards which means another bone graft. He would be able to combine the other procedures the same time. But before he does any surgery he needs to talk to my Orthodontist and make some measurements. I was hoping to have my braces removed early December but that won't be happening now.

It was upsetting to hear that I would need to go through the surgery again, I have every faith in my surgeon but going through it a second time and knowing what's ahead of me makes it a little scarier.

I need to think things through before the next appointment and tell my surgeon what I think. My mother was upset when she first heard what my surgeon said and wants to talk to him before he does surgery. I don't blame her for being upset as she was the one who took care of me last time and through all my other surgeries. I don't know what I would do without her.

I had a videofluroscopy done this week to see if my p-flap was working properly, and the conclusion we came to was that it isn't working. It's probably making more damage then good. We will discuss our options at the next appointment.

But for now I have a lot of thinking to do once again.............
