6 days to go..

In 6 days my surgery will finally be over with! I am counting down the days until my surgery,it will be a relief when it's all over with though once again I am dreading the recovery (as always!!)

I have finished work until after my surgery, as I go into hospital on Wednesday. I will miss being in work around the children and my friends but one things for sure I won't miss the early mornings!!! I got some cute presents from some of the children and their parents and several good luck cards which was nice and a surprse.

My little brother who's 6 years old got me a cute teddy bear for me to take with me to the hospital to look after me when he's not there, until I come home so he can look after me! That bought a tear to my eyes as he is such a sweet little brother.

I am nervous about my surgery especially with the added risks this time round, and I did have a meltdown last night. My mom as always is behind me 100% just wish I could say the same about my dad.

I am going to see some friends today to help take my mind off the surgery for a few hours.

Keep smiling :)

Aloha Sarah! We will be thinking about you during your surgery and hope for a fast recovery. I've been reading about you through cleft advocate and thank you for all your advice and kind words to everyone. I don't write in very often as this is all new to me.

CONGRATULATIONS on your achievements! That is one lucky daycare!

Take Care,

Hi sarah, i know it's only normal to feel nervous about your surgery, but try to relax as much as possible. When you relax, you feel calmer, creating the complex biochemistry that enhances healing. Your calmness causes your parasympathetic nervous system to create a cascade of hormones that relaxes you. Your heart will beat at a more normal rate, your breathing will be regular and your muscles will relax.
These same hormones also strengthen your immune system. A healthy immune system defends your body against infection and helps you heal faster.

When you are tense, you produce excess levels of stress hormones, such as cortisone and the catecholamines. increased levels of these hormones diminish the activity of your immune system - your body's natural defense sysem against illness.

you can try to relax by visualizing yourself in a place where you felt at one with your surroundings, and physically relax all your muscles!

love,
cassandra
